These high-impact, low-footprint refrigerated smart lockers are efficient, safe, and reliable ways to address food insecurity. Families that cannot come to the Market during business hours utilize our lockers at their convenience. Technology bridges gaps in disparity.

Based in the epicenter of a rural food desert in East Pierce County, our premier project and innovative smart locker program was launched in October 2022 through Councilmember Dave Morell and the Pierce County Council with ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding as a scalable, environmentally friendly, 24 / 7 access, distribution network for fresh foods for vulnerable and rural populations. The initial pilot locker was placed next to our organization's farmers market concept foodbank, called The Market. In 2024 we will launch five additional sites in rural locations made possible through a congressionally funded community project put forth by Representative Kim Schrier.

The self-service refrigerated lockers effectively provide nutritious food with 24/7 access for our customers (clients) who have difficulty coming to the food bank to shop for food in person. This innovative solution meets the growing need for customers in food deserts / remote locations and unhoused populations. The lockers would provide a continuous nutritious food source.

Our Market Fresh Lockers were launched in early 2023 as a revolutionary approach to food access.
