A GoodRoots Partnership

Working Together...

GoodRoots NW is striving to get to the root of the logistics issues that lead to chronic food waste. 40% of food in our state continues to go to waste due to gaps in the last mile of food’s lifecycle. Here’s an example of how our organization works to fill the gaps with impactful and sustainable programming.

For 3 years we have been in strategic partnership with the Pierce County Skills Center, a skills based high school for Juniors and Seniors seeking college credits and workforce training. They have a dynamic Culinary program under the direction of Chef Ben and Chef Eliza.

By utilizing our inventory systems and diverting food while at the peak of its freshness, we transfer beautiful food to the 80 young chefs so that they can make frozen meals. These nutrient dense meals return to the Market and our online shop for our customers to select. It’s a beautiful thing.  💚
